Phoenix Personal Training is excited to announce the launch of mat Pilates classes and one-to-one Pilates sessions, designed to help people move better, build strength safely, and improve confidence in everyday movement.

Pilates is one of the most effective ways to improve posture, balance, and core strength while reducing stiffness and discomfort. These new sessions are particularly suitable for beginners, those returning to exercise, and anyone recovering from injury or managing joint or back pain.

Group mat Pilates classes provide a supportive and welcoming environment where participants can develop strength, mobility, and coordination through controlled, low-impact exercise. Sessions focus on breathing, posture, and functional movement patterns that transfer into daily life.

For those who prefer individual support, private one-to-one Pilates sessions offer fully personalised instruction. Each session begins with an assessment to understand movement history, goals, and any limitations, allowing exercises to be tailored to the individual.

Sessions take place in a gym-studio setting, ensuring a calm, focused environment where participants can progress at their own pace.

Whether the goal is to improve balance, return to activity after injury, reduce pain, or simply feel stronger and more confident in movement, Pilates provides a structured and safe path forward.

Phoenix Personal Training continues its mission to help clients move better, feel stronger, and be more resilient.

So Hyrox didn't happen, the injuries (upper back, rhomboid/levator scapulae, and elbow ligaments) did not heal sufficently. I could have toughed it out and got through it, but that may well have wrecked fitness for a while. All you can do in a situation like this is re-plan. First take a step back and come up with a rehab plan, for me the rehab is upper body, so while I do that I can concentrate on lower body endurance and ironing out strength and flexibility asymmetries. I have also looked at future events, first is Hyrox Cardiff at the end of April, maybe too soon, but a possibility. Then there is Deka Fit at the end of July, then MacTuffX in September, probably Hyrox Birmingham in October. So now I will train around those events. Rehab, balance, endurance first, moving on to strength, thresshold, anaerobic intervals, more speed work. And then some event specific training, slowly putting all the pieces together and planning the transition in training for the different competitions. They all have different requirements needing a different training focus.

So no looking back, Hyrox Manchester has gone but there is plenty more to come. I'm sure there will be more injuries and problems to overcome, but all problems are learning opportunities. My upper back / shoulder anatomy and biomechanics knowledge is now much better than it was, and it was pretty good before I got injured :) . One last piece of advice, if a physio or sports therapist ever tells you that a particular body part is working perfectly and is bullet proof, don't believe them. Never take that as the green light to throw away a plan and accelerate the process. Trust the process, rest and recovery is not optional.
